Port Novorossiysk

I have heard, “Rotterdam Not Novo” so many times now, my ears are ringing! It has become a mantra. CI dip and pay in Rotterdam not Novo. Buyers, brokers, agents, all seem to have enough offers from Novo and don’t trust the port, tank farms, authorities, and seller offers as much as they do Rotterdam.

However, the issue is, an offer from a Russian refinery via Rotterdam goes in a matter of hours, so one’s reaction time to an offer with an ICPO and/or CP has to be super fast! Given that we all work across different time zones, this is a highly stressful situation and not healthy long term. People test their own limits and continue or drop out accordingly.

A solution would be to improve the conditions in Novo, so those of us in the fuel business (JP54, D2, D6, Mazut, etc) can get some sleep and have better offers at our disposal. I hope the Russians work to make their port friendlier for fuel business. It would be a positive step and to their financial benefit.
